dropping ~major news~ in a casual text convo

When I decided to change my name to Dylan, I just dropped it casually into a text convo with my Dad, and he just thumbs up 👍 reacted (peak Dad-core).

I interpreted this to mean he was chill and cool with me changing the name he had assigned me at birth, but turns out he was actually spiralling and just couldn't find words to properly tell me this.

WITH ALL THAT SAID, I still stand by this technique for soft launching major news or juicy tea when you either don't want to make it a big deal or just find a sick pleasure in seeing how your loved ones will react without the intensity, pressure, or, dare I say, vulnerability of a Formal Announcement™️.

Am I toxic? That's a rhetorical question.
